VLV Spring Conference 2018
Thursday 19th April 2018 10:30 - Thursday 19th April 2018 16:00
VLV will hold its annual Spring Conference and Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting on April 19th 2018 at the Geological Society in Piccadilly, London.
We are delighted that Sir David Clementi, Chairman of the BBC, will be our keynote speaker at the VLV Spring Conference. Sir David joined the BBC just over a year ago and will be able to reflect on the new BBC governance arrangements. Before joining the BBC, Sir David advised the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport during Charter Review and previously was Chairman of Virgin Money, Chairman of Prudential, and Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.
At the conference we will also hear from Kevin Bakhurst, Content Group Director at Ofcom, about changes now that Ofcom has taken on responsibility for regulating the BBC. In the afternoon we will have a session on the contribution commercial radio makes for UK audiences. Siobhan Kenny, CEO of Radiocentre, Matt Deegan, Station Manager at Fun Kids Radio and Creative Director at Folder Media and DrTony Stoller, media historian, will discuss the challenges and opportunities for commercial radio in a digital age chaired by Gillian Reynolds.
After lunch broadcaster Jon Snow will present the popular VLV Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting 2017. The awards, which celebrate both television and radio, are voted on by VLV members.
The conference will be followed by a Members’ Forum.
